McCaslin is a spring fed brook containing Brook and Brown trout. It runs through National Forest land, so it's protected from development and pollution. The U.S. Forest Service Fisheries Biologist chose McCaslin for restoration and enhancement. Our group installed brush bundles to narrow and deepen the channel and create undercut banks. We channel dredged to provide base sediment for brush bundles and deepen the channel. Debris removal was also necessary to promote growth of grass on banks to ease erosion. GBTU also funded a U.S. Forest Service tech to install brush bundles, root wad systems and shovel dredge to improve in-stream habitats.
